Yesterday, I read a terrific short story - NINE POINTS OF THE LAW by E.W. Hornung, whose writing style reminds Me of the famed Russian short story writer and dramatist Chekhov /Dr. Wilfred Funk. The hero of the story - Raffles - is obviously an interesting parody of Me - like the characters Harry Potter and Hari Seldon created respectively by Ms. J. K. Rowling and Dr. Isaac Asimov.
(NINE POINTS OF THE LAW by E. W. Hornung, one of several very interesting short stories in COLLECTION OF WORLD FAMOUS THRILLING STORIES published by G. B. D. - Great Books Distributors, Kolkata-16 - and also available at BOOKS AND GIFTS, Panbazar, Guwahati-1; Rs. 70. The terrifying story THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME by Richard Connell/Ms. X/B./Pam/Emily Bronte (famous author of WUTHERING HEIGHTS) is also included in this volume...I don't know what the phrase "nine points of the law" means - I could find out from Google or from one of My many excellent English dictionaries, but the story is important, not the title, whose chief aim should be to attract the reader by the title and if possible to give a hint of what the story is about. - G)

Excellent talk - one of the best I have heard (which doesn't mean however that I've fallen '"head over heels in love"). I have not read Middlemarch yet but I guess it's a story similar to the "forbidden fruit" story in the Bible, the sweet innocent (?) and naive (?) and ingenuous (ingenuous? ingenious?) Eve heeding wily Serpent's exhortation - ("forbidden fruit" is a polite euphemism for "rape", I believe - a harmless term for the obscene taboo word "rape" that cannot and should not be used in a book to be read not only by sinners but also by holy spiritual guys and by children) - and the feelings of guilt and hopelessness resulting from the shattering rare [rape] experience - however the REAL THOUGH UNSPOKEN CAUSE for profound limitless DEPRESSION of fallen sexy females like Eve and "heroine" of Middlemarch et al is that God will NOT have s. with impure females like them. (Being A Gentleman, I hesitate to write s. and v. in full, unholy terms that I should not use in My blog posts so as not to offend My sensitive spiritual females - if there are any - though I use strong vulgar obscene taboo words to refer to ALIEN bastards and bitches - and much worse vulgar words.) Incidentally, I was surprised to hear an enthusiastic lady reviewer on YouTube calling Middlemarch "the greatest English novel". So I am keenly interested in reading Middlemarch coz I had the impression that Dickens was/is the greatest English novelist. (Doesn't matter to Me of course. I don't want to make unfair comparisons of any novelist with God the Novelist - that would be VERY UNFAIR to ANY poor dear novelist.) WAR AND PEACE and DON QUIXOTE etc. are claimed to be the greatest novel by their respective supporters. To me, however, the more the merrier! Some say Shakespeare, some say Chekhov is the greatest dramatist. Bernard Shaw however says he is GREATER than Shakespeare. (I say God is The Greatest Writer of All Time. Why this inclusion of God into everything? Guess why. - G)
