MANY years ago, I had a rather interesting once in a lifetime experience: in the extremely crowded 3-tier train reservation compartment My consort and I and My small daughter (I am dead against the idea of using obsolete terms princess and rajkumari etc.) had got into at Lower Haflong railway station along with lots of My big ITI students acting as very helpful de facto porters, suddenly My consort who was heavily dressed in sari and other feminine clothes emitted a loud shriek coz a guy had pinched her bum and became lost in the big crowded
compartment and I told her to SHUT UP because I calculated that the probability of catching the evil miscreant was ZERO though My big students were ready to take revenge and beat up the guy IF it WERE possible to locate the guy in the short space of two or three minutes available to My big students before they descended from the train as the train started and they went back to the ITI hostel. (Psycho-technologists have identified the evil guy of course but this is perhaps a rather minor thing - but there is also the possibility that My innocent-looking but shrewd consort may have lied about the whole thing!) - G
In 1992 or thereabouts, My consort and daughter and I were going by bus from Haflong to Silchar to attend the marriage of My second brother-in-law in Silchar - and we met with a weird road accident in which several bus passengers got seriously injured and bled and several reportedly died in hospital where they had been taken from the site of the serious accident - but the three of us (Me, My consort, and our daughter) emerged nonchalantly from the overturned bus completely unscathed without the slightest scratch on our bodies. It was obvious to Me that it was a planned "accident". About midway in our bus journey from Haflong, the road was blocked by a big tree that had apparently fallen because of a storm - but I quietly noted that the big tree was placed PERPENDICULARLY to the length of the road! A storm does not fell a tree perpendicularly to the road! It was obviously the work of aliens. More was to follow. On the other side of the big tree that neatly blocked the road was a similarly blocked bus that had come from the opposite direction - carrying passengers from Silchar to Haflong - and this ramshackle latter bus was notorious for having had fatal accidents in the past (a premonition of things to come!) - the passengers of the two buses EXCHANGED THEIR BUSES and then the two blocked buses went back to the original places from where they had started - and the passengers of the two buses resumed journeying to their correct original destinations - what a brilliant arrangement - and with what perfect timing the two buses had come near each other on either side of the big tree! We got into the unlucky bus and then at one point the driver of the bus pressed the accelerator hard, the bus sped like mad and the driver jumped out of his seat and several passengers jumped out of the bus in panic and bled on the road and the passengers inside the wildly speeding bus started shrieking in panic (I was quietly observing the bus scene inside; a few seats away My consort was pressing daughter very hard, both were seated near the open door of the speeding bus from which several scared passengers kept jumping out of the door in panic and falling hard on the road), the bus was rapidly moving towards its sad end hundreds of feet below - BUT the constantly watching psycho-technologists applied very strong magnetic fields from far away which quickly slowed down the speeding bus which then gently hit a small hillock on one side of the road and the bus gently overturned and the steaming bus engine flew out onto the road and the big glass windshield broke completely and the stunned bus passengers inside crawled out of the bus one by one through the big open space of the windshield sans the very big glass windshield - and finally we three (Me, My consort Swarna Lakshmi, and our little daughter Durga aka Nandini) crawled out of the bus last! Once we stood on the road, My consort started crying. I told her to SHUT UP and she stopped her stupid usual feminine whimpering. Then we went to My (now late) brother's house - safe and sound sans the slightest scratch - but My body aching coz SO MANY male and female (Oops!) passengers walked over My horizontal body which was luckily encased in a very big black warm coat, it being the cold winter season.
